What to know… - I acquired a pair of Aftco #4 Unibutts. - One of the butts was like new. - The other butt was faded and scratched. No gouges in the metal but pretty worn looking. - So I decided it was a good candidate for a custom paint design. - I started by sanding it down to a smooth finish. - Next I applied a metal primer. - On top of that are 3 coats of high quality gloss black paint. - Next came the green and gold bands. Three coats each. - Finished it off with 4 coats of high quality gloss clear coat. - A lot of work but I did it for the enjoyment of bringing the ugly duckling back to beauty.
